The Body and its Power of Expression
Using exercises and techniques from the Lecoq School this session explores some basic Lecoq techniques such as the seven levels of tension, push and pull and the dynamic of the chorus in theatre. From initial chorus work the session goes on to consider ostracism and inclusion and using the bamboo canes technique to explore power relationships and how the actor can use these techniques to help build a character and examine text. The exercises used also emphasise the skills needed to work effectively as an actor either individually or within a group on stage, looking at touch, rhythm, spatial awareness, focus, choral speaking and moving. In this practical session participants will get the chance to work both individually and within a group.
